Chess the Musical - Molokov(a)

Played a gender-bent Molokov in UCI’s production of Chess the musical at the Irvine Barclay Theater. Direction by Robin Buck and Musical Direction by Gary Busby. A review from Alina Mae Wilson of the Orange Curtain Review had this to say: “Molokova (played by Jennifer Holcombe) is for all intents and purposes a Bond villain. I mean the moment the woman appears onstage in her sweeping jacket and smoothly plotting the downfall of her enemies in a strong Russian accent, you’ll wonder what devious plans she has up her red leather sleeve. [...] I’ve been listening to professional albums since that night, and Holcombe remains my absolutely favorite person to do Molokov(a)’s part in the Chess“ Quartet”.

Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing

Had the pleasure of playing one of my dream roles as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at THEATREWORKS in Colorado Springs, CO. With the incredible Jane Page (head of UCI’s MFA Directing program) directing the cast, it was a fun romp set in the Wild West. I even learned how to use a bullwhip. ;)

Had a blast as the ever scheming Fanny Dashwood in the Pacific Conservatory Theatre’s production of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility (adapted by Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan.) Directed by Roger DeLaurier (Associate Artistic Director of PCPA.)

“The talented cast smoothly unfolds the story with wit, energy and poise. Although several female cast members strongly support the main characters with humor and intensity, standouts include Holcombe as Fanny, Balay as Mrs. Jennings, and Brownlow as Charlotte.”

And for fun, I wrote a parody of the summer’s hit shows, Sense & Sensibility and In the Heights:
